Escort Vehicles
Until a few years ago all abnormal loads were escorted by the relevant police authorities. In 2004 police forces in England and Wales stopped doing routine escorts for abnormal loads, allowing private companies to do so providing they adhere to stringent regulations, with the exception of loads that require 'significant' disruption of traffic. This means we can help you move your load across the county much faster than in the past. All vehicles carry accurate measuring systems, safety equipment including road cones and signs, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, spill kits and onboard video recording equipment. Two way communications can be via CB or PMR two way radios.

Route Surveys and planning
The most important part of organizing the movement of any abnormal load is in the planning of the route; In many cases the majority of the route will be known to you, your drivers and ourselves but there will undoubtedly be sections of the route you cannot be confident about including the final destination. We will survey the route and if necessary go to the location and assess it personally.

Abnormal Load Permits
We will deal with the relevant authorities on your behalf, making arrangements and providing you and your drivers with the relevant paperwork. If there is no variation in the route no permit is issued and we will supply you with the relevant movement order to be kept with the vehicle. Whatever your needs we will provide you with the required permits and/or paperwork.

If you are planning an event Wessex Pilot Cars have experience in, and can assist with, many aspects such as marshalling, site organization, vehicle movement and pedestrian control. Whether it be a county show, street fair or carnival our extensive experience will leave you free to concentrate on other aspects of your event.
